STaff Only
A not-for-profit corporation offering residential and supported living services throughout Northeast Ohio for persons with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.
What is SL?
Supported Living, at the moment, consists of 9 houses, which will soon be 11 houses. Supported Living is funded by IO Waiver. The client pays for their own expenses from any SSI, SSA, and wages they receive. It provides a smaller, more independent setting for clients. Depending on the needs of the clients, there will be 1-2 staff on a shift at most. Clients in SL tend to be more independent and able to care for themselves, with assistance. It is an opportunity and a chance to see them grow.

How will SL benefit my son/daughter/etc?
It will provide a more real life community setting for them to branch out and seek more independence. They will have a say in what they do with their time and money, within the boundaries of health and safety.

Who is involved with Supported Living?
Dave Louka is the manager of the division. Emily Riesis the assistant manager of the division. They both oversee the running of all the houses. The house supervisor runs the house and coordinates the staff at the house. Support administrators, through the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities manage the client’s services.

Client Finances: NCC is the payee for the majority of the Supported Living Clients, and Toni, the finance person for Supported Living, manages the client’s money and pays all the bills and take care of redeterminations for benefits.

The clients have an Individual Service Plan, which is written by the Support Administrator.

Clients ride with approved and insured company drivers for outings and appointments, in staffs’ personal vehicles.

General Info: The clients go to work. They do different activities, as a house, or individually with staff supervision, or as a division. Some of the activities the houses do are eating out, parties, library, movies, etc. Individually, sometimes the clients take classes, or join certain organizations they’re interested in. The Division has holiday parties and outings to places like: Good Times III, the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway, the Great Lakes Science Center, etc.

There is a staffnurse for the Supported Living Division. She sees clients on a routine basis (at least monthly) and will make more visits as needed.
